This "Reel in G", also known as simply "Quadrille" is one of a number of dance tunes known in western New York and western Pennsylvania that are known to the players only by a generic designation - reel, quadrille, jig, dance tune, etc.. Paul Van Arsdale learned this tune from his grandfather Jesse Martin. The same tune, minus Van Arsdale's C part, was collected by Sam Bayard in south western Pennsylvania where it was called "Quadrille". He gives no notes about it except for the player and his location. It seems very familiar but it may be that Van Arsdale's record is my only source.
I have included only the A and B parts from Van Arsdale which were played in reverse order by Bayard’s informant.
