"Richmond [1]" is an old-time breakdown from Virginia in D Major ('A' part) &
A Major ('B' part). The parts are played AABB.
Like the better-known "Richmond Cotillion" the tune is in old-time 'cotillion'
form, meaning the 1st and 2nd parts are in two different keys, a fifth apart.
The melodies are otherwise unrelated.
This is not the same as the tune listed as "Richmond [2]".
The tune was played by Kyle Creed (Western Virginia) and was collected from
Henry Reed (Glen Lyn, Va.) by Alan Jabbour.
It was printed in Brody's Fiddler’s Fakebook (1983) and
Kaufman's Beginning Old-Time Fiddle (1977).
It was recorded by Otis Burris on Virginia Breakdown,
Hollow Rock String Band on The Hollow Rock String Band,
Kyle Creed on Blue Ridge Style Square Dance Time and
Mike Seeger on Old Time Country Music.
