"Richmond [1]" is an old-time breakdown from Virginia in D Major ('A' part) &<br> A Major ('B' part). The parts are played AABB.<br> Like the better-known "Richmond Cotillion" the tune is in old-time 'cotillion'<br> form, meaning the 1st and 2nd parts are in two different keys, a fifth apart.<br> The melodies are otherwise unrelated.<br> This is not the same as the tune listed as "Richmond [2]".<br> The tune was played by Kyle Creed (Western Virginia) and was collected from<br> Henry Reed (Glen Lyn, Va.) by Alan Jabbour. <br> It was printed in Brody's Fiddler’s Fakebook (1983) and<br> Kaufman's Beginning Old-Time Fiddle (1977). <br> It was recorded by Otis Burris on Virginia Breakdown,<br> Hollow Rock String Band on The Hollow Rock String Band,<br> Kyle Creed on Blue Ridge Style Square Dance Time and<br> Mike Seeger on Old Time Country Music.<br>
