"Rye Whiskey", also known as "Whiskey", is an American reel or breakdown in 4/4 time and the key of G known in southwestern Pa. The parts are played ABB'.
This tune is no relation to the more famous and widespread triple-time tune-song "Rye Whiskey". Bayard (1981) considers this a version or derivation of "Sally Goodin". The rhythms are different but the melody is there. The faster you play this, the more the "Sally Goodin" tune emerges.
It was collected by Bayard from Levi Hall in Fayette County, Pa. in 1944.
It was printed in Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle (1981).
