It is known from the playing of John Morgan Salyer (1882-1952) a farmer from Salyersville, Magoffin County, Ky. It was printed in Titon's Old-Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes (2001) and Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021). It was recorded by John Salyer on John M. Salyer: Home Recordings 1941-42, vol. 1 (1993) by the Berea College Appalachian Center, Bruce Molsky on Lost Boy (1996) and David Bragger and Susan Platz on King's Lament: Old-Time Fiddle Duets (2014).
