This version of "Salt River" comes from John Roberts via Howie Bursen and<br> Ken Perlman who says that it is probably an ancestor of the "Salt Creek" (also<br> known as "Salt River" that is a bluegrass/country standard. I don't really<br> see the connection but both tunes are good.<br> It was recorded by John Roberts and Tony Barrand on their album<br> Mellow With Ale From the Horn (1975).<br> It was printed in Perlman's Melodic Clawhammer Banjo (1979).<br> This plays nicely in medleys with:<br> "Big Sciota"<br> "Colored Aristocracy"<br> also in this section.<br>
