This version of "Salt River" comes from John Roberts via Howie Bursen and
Ken Perlman who says that it is probably an ancestor of the "Salt Creek" (also
known as "Salt River" that is a bluegrass/country standard. I don't really
see the connection but both tunes are good.
It was recorded by John Roberts and Tony Barrand on their album
Mellow With Ale From the Horn (1975).
It was printed in Perlman's Melodic Clawhammer Banjo (1979).
This plays nicely in medleys with:
"Big Sciota"
"Colored Aristocracy"
also in this section.
