"Sarah Armstrong's Tune" is from Samuel Bayard's Hill Country Tunes. It was collected from Sarah Armstrong on 11/18/1943 by Samuel P. Bayard. Sarah called this tune simply "An Old Reel". I have included it in the Tunes section because, even though her name is now associated with it, the tune is probably a traditional tune and not her composition. Sarah Armstrong (1883 - 1957) contributed 37 of the 95 tunes in Hill Country Tunes making her the most prolific source. Although she was accompanied by her daughter on piano and her son on banjo, her children did not pick up her repertoire and she was left as its sole preserver. There are no known recordings of her playing.
