"The Soap Fat Man" is a southwestern PA version of Dan Emmett's "Old Dan Tucker".<br> It was collected from John Tustin in Rogersville, Greene County, PA. in 1944 by Samuel<br> Bayard.<br> It was recorded by Tamsula and Withers on Behind the Door (2016).<br> The banjo arrangement is by John Letscher from that recording. The recording is in Bb but John<br> worked out the banjo version in D. He says that, like on the recording, this tune goes well<br> with "Jim Harbst's Tune" in a medley. Tustin's version was in C.<br> The tune was printed in Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle (1981).<br> The melody is listed in Dance to the Fiddle as "Old Dan Tucker".<br>
