"Young Jane" is an English waltz in G Major. The parts are played AB.
The tune is a waltz version of "Young Jane and the Gallant Hussar," or "The Gallant Hussar". The A part is very similar to "Tramps and Hawkers" which is also used for the sea song "Paddy West". It was printed in S. Johnson's The Kitchen Musician No. 4: Collection of Fine Tunes (1983), Kennedy's Fiddlers Tune Book, vol. 1 (1951) and Raven's English Country Dance Tunes (1984). It was recorded by F&W String Band on F&W String Band 2 and Fennigs All Stars on Saturday Night in the Provinces. |
