"The Tulip" is a Scottish march. It was composed by James Oswald and printed in his<br> Airs for the Spring (1747). Several song and dance tunes are descended from this tune,<br> including the Irish revolutionary song "The Wearing of the Green" and the morris dance<br> air "Balance a Straw".<br> Many sources reference this as an ancestor of both "The Wearing of the Green" and<br> "Balance a Straw" but there is very little direct information available.<br> It has been recorded by Adderbury Morris Men on Sing and Play the Music of the<br> Adderbury Tradition.<br>
