"Green Garters" (in Gaelic "Crioscosa Glais"), also known as "Geehan's Reel",
"The Grazier", "Trim the Velvet", "The Humours of Flip", "The Potlick" and "Sally
Kelly" is an Irish reel in D Major. The parts are played AB (O'Neill/1850 & 1001) or
AA'BB' (O'Neill/Krassen).
Versions of the tune also appear in the key of G major in several collections,
including the Stephen Greir manuscript from County Leitrim. Breathnach (1963) says
"The Blacksmith’s Reel", also known as "The Blacksmith’s Daughter", is a version
of this tune.
It was printed in
Banalari's Celtic Encyclopedia (1999),
O'Neill (Krassen) (1976),
O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903) and
O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907).
It was recorded by
