"The Rambling Rake", in Gaelic "An Rácaire Fánach" is an Irish long or set dance in cut time<br> and A Minor (Roche) or A Dorian (Mulvihill, O'Neill). The parts are played AAB (O'Neill/1850 &<br> 1001) or AABB (Mulvihill, O 'Neill/Krassen, Roche).<br> There are eight measures in the A part and sixteen measures in the B part.<br> There are some similarities to<br> "King of the Fairies"<br> and the related Shetland variant<br> "Scollay's Reel".<br> A slightly different version in E minor appears in O'Neill's Waifs and Strays of Gaelic<br> Melody (1922).<br> It was printed in Cotter's Traditional Irish Tin Whistle Tutor (1989),<br> Mulvihill's 1st Collection (1986),<br> Krassen's O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1976),<br> O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903),<br> O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907) and<br> Roche's Collection of Traditional Irish Music, vol. 3 (1927).<br> It was recorded by<br> Paddy O’Brien, Seamus Connolly And Charlie Lennon on The Banks Of The Shannon and<br> Larry McKee And The Shandonairs on Irish Dancer. <br>
