"Planxty Drew", in Gaelic "<i>Pleraca Dreu</i>" is an Irish air or Planxty in<br> 6/8 time and G Dorian or E Dorian. The parts are played AB or AABB.<br> It was composed by O'Carolan, presumably for one of the Drews of Drewstown House,<br> Co. Meath, which is three miles north of Athboy and close to the Westmeath<br> border. The founder of the family in Ireland was Francis Drew, who went there<br> as a Captain in the Army of Queen Elizabeth I in 1598.<br> It was printed <b>Complete Collection of Carolan's Irish Tunes</b> (1985),<br> Krassen's <b>O'Neill's Music of Ireland</b> (1976),<br> O'Neill's <b>Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies</b> (1903),<br> O'Sullivan's <b>Carolan: The Life, Times and Music of an Irish Harper</b> (1958) and<br> Stanford/Petrie's <b>Complete Collection</b> (1905).<br> It was recorded by<br> Shelley Phillips on Celtic Treasure -The Legacy Of Turlough O’Carolan (1996) and<br> Johnny Cunningham on <b>Fair Warning</b> (1985).<br>
