"Planxty Drew", in Gaelic "
Pleraca Dreu
" is an Irish air or Planxty in
6/8 time and G Dorian or E Dorian. The parts are played AB or AABB.
It was composed by O'Carolan, presumably for one of the Drews of Drewstown House,
Co. Meath, which is three miles north of Athboy and close to the Westmeath
border. The founder of the family in Ireland was Francis Drew, who went there
as a Captain in the Army of Queen Elizabeth I in 1598.
It was printed
