"Antelope Gap" is an American reel in cut time and D Major. The parts are played AABB.
Antelope Gap is located in Platte County, Wyoming near Wheatland.
Dan Levenson’s comments:
This one comes to me from the playing of Howard Rains and Trish Spencer on their
Old Texas Fiddle recording. He says it comes from Texas fiddler J.W. Whatley.
I don’t think I have heard this one anywhere else but it has become a favorite of the Tucson jam crowd.
The banjo tablature is by John Letscher. His comments:
Name comes from an actual geographic location. Taken largely from the dulcimer playing of Mark Gilston.
Reminiscent of
"Run Down Boot".
It was printed in Dan Levenson’s Master Collection of Old-Time Tunes (2023) and
Mark Gilston's More American Old Time Tunes For Dulcimer.
It was recorded by Howard Rains on The Old Texas Fiddle.
