"Antelope Gap" is an American reel in cut time and D Major. The parts are played AABB.
Antelope Gap is located in Platte County, Wyoming near Wheatland. Dan Levenson’s comments: This one comes to me from the playing of Howard Rains and Trish Spencer on their Old Texas Fiddle recording. He says it comes from Texas fiddler J.W. Whatley. I don’t think I have heard this one anywhere else but it has become a favorite of the Tucson jam crowd. The banjo tablature is by John Letscher. His comments: Name comes from an actual geographic location. Taken largely from the dulcimer playing of Mark Gilston. Reminiscent of "Run Down Boot".It was printed in Dan Levenson’s Master Collection of Old-Time Tunes (2023) and Mark Gilston's More American Old Time Tunes For Dulcimer. It was recorded by Howard Rains on The Old Texas Fiddle. |
