"Black and White Rag" is a Texas style, western swing breakdown in G Major ('A' and 'C' parts) &
C Major ('B' part). The parts are played ABACA (Phillips), AABBAACC (Brody) or
AA'A'A'BCDD'EE'FF' (Reiner & Anick).
"Black and White Rag" is a 1908 ragtime composition by George Botsford (1874-1949), a
Midwesterner who moved to Tin Pan Alley and had a long career as a composer in various
forms of music.
It was printed in Brody's Fiddler's Fakebook (1983),
Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes, vol. 2 (1995) and
Reiner & Ancik's Old Time Fiddling Across America (1989).
It was recorded by Benny Thomasson on Country Fiddling from the Big State,
Critton Hollow on Great Dreams (1988),
Terry Morris on A Texas Jam Session,
