"Buttermilk and Cider" is an American hornpipe in 4/4 time and G major.
It is a hornpipe version adapted from Samuel Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle March
to the Fife #351A with some figures from #351B. It also appears (in the key of A) in
his Hill Country Tunes #18. The tune is a variant of
"Off to California"
which is listed in the Celtic section.
It was printed in O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903), Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1941) and Ford's Traditional Music of America (1940). |
