"Camp Chase" is an old-time breakdown tune from West Viginia. It is usually played on the<br> fiddle in AEae or GDgd tuning.<br> There is a story that this song was played by a Confederate soldier in a prison camp<br> fiddle contest to win his freedom.<br> It was printed in Krassen's Masters of Old Time Fiddling (1983), Brody's Fiddler’s Fakebook (1983)<br> and Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes (1994).<br> It was recorded by The Fuzzy Mountain String Band and Adam Hurt.<br> Most people play it at normal reel speed. Adam Hurt plays it a little slower and it sounds<br> very nice. The midi file included here is the slower tempo.<br>
