A lot of banjo players and fiddlers call this tune
Cherokee
Shuffle
when played in the key of A and
Lost Indian
when
played in the key of D. This is the A version which is also a square
tune. The D version, which is a crooked tune (having two extra
measures in both the A and B parts) is also in this section.
It has been recorded by Delaware Water Gap, Howard Bursen,
Old Reliable String Band, Fennigs All Stars and Norman Blake.
I learned it from Howard Bursen's Cider in the Kitchen album.
I play this in medleys with:
Georgia Railroad
Seneca Square Dance
both in this section and
The Girl I Left Behind Me
in the Songs section.
