A lot of banjo players and fiddlers call this tune Cherokee Shuffle when played in the key of A
and Lost Indian when played in the key of D. This is the A version which is also a square tune.
The D version, which is a crooked tune (having two extra measures in both the A and B parts)
can be found here.
It has been recorded by Delaware Water Gap, Howard Bursen, Old Reliable String Band,
Fennigs All Stars and Norman Blake.
I learned it from Howard Bursen's Cider in the Kitchen album.
I play this tune in medleys with "Georgia Railroad" and
"Seneca Square Dance"
in this section and
"The Girl I Left Behind Me"
in the Songs section.
