"Fire on the Mountain" is another tune from Henry Reed of Virginia, via Alan Jabbour. It is also known as "Betty Martin", "Old Mother Gofour", "Pretty Betty Martin", "Hog Eye", "Sambo", "Ten Little Indians" and "Tip Toe Fine". This is not the same tune as the similarly named "Fire in the Mountain". Notice how the B part is exactly the same as the A part except that it is transposed to D from A and that the ending reverts to A. It has been recorded by The Highwoods String Band, Gid Tanner & the Skillet Lickers, Kyle Creed and Fred Cockerham, Fiddlin' John Carson, Fuzzy Mountain String Band and Bob Carlin among others. I don't remember where I learned this.
