"The Girl with the Blue Dress On" is an American march in 2/4 time and G Major.<br> The parts are played AB.<br> It is known in southwestern Pennsylvania.<br> This is a fife piece, the favorite of the Rices Landing Band, a martial organization<br> from Greene county Pa. However, it plays more like a schottische than a march.<br> It is an entirely different melody from the contra-dance tune<br> "Girl with the Blue Dress On".<br> Samuel Bayard collected the notated version from Marion Yoders in Greene County, Pa. in 1960.<br> He considered the title to be a floater.<br> It was printed in Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle (1981).<br>
