"Greene County", also known as "The Irish Volunteer" or "The Baltimore March"<br> is an American march in 2/4 time and D Major. The parts are played AB.<br> It is a standard fife tune in southwestern Pa. although it is in a different<br> key from the other related tunes and this version was played slowly and<br> deliberately instead of the more lively time of "The Irish Volunteer"<br> versions.<br> Greene County is the county on the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania<br> adjoining West Virginia.<br> The source for the notated version was Samuel Palmer. It was collected from<br> him by Samuel Bayard in Fayette County, Pa. in 1944.<br> It was printed in Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle (1981).<br>
