"The Hillside (1)" also known as "Joe Kennedy's Jig" is an English jig in E Minor. The parts are played AABB.
This jig is English and not Irish, so I have placed it in the Tunes section and not the Irish or Celtic sections.
It is similar to the Southwestern Pennsylvania tune called simply "Quadrille" that was collected from John Kubina, (near) Davistown, Pennsylvania, September 3, 1943 by Samuel Bayard.
It was printed in Raven's English Country Dance Tunes (1984) and Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940).
