"Juliann Johnson", also known as "Julie Ann Johnson" or "Julian Johnson" is<br> an old-time breakdown in D Major. It is played in ADae or standard fiddle tuning.<br> The parts are played AB (Silberberg), AABB (Phillips, Songer) or AA'BB' (Lamancusa).<br> This is an old-time clawhammer banjo favorite.<br> I can't find much background for this tune but most old-time banjo players seem<br> to know it.<br> I learned it from Riley Baugus at Elderly Instruments' Midwest Banjo Camp.<br> The banjo tablature given here is by John Letscher.<br> It was printed in Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes, vol. 1 (1994) (as<br> "Julian Johnson"),<br> Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021) (as<br> Julie Ann Johnson),<br> Silberberg's Tunes I Learned at Tractor Tavern (2002) (as Julie Ann Johnson) and<br> Songer's Portland Collection (1997).<br>
