"Metsäkukkia", also known as "Flowers of the Forest", "Forest Flower Waltz" or<br> "Woodland Flowers" is a Finnish waltz in G Minor (Matthiesen) or A Minor (Johnson).<br> The parts are played AABBCC (Johnson) or AA'BB'CC' (Matthiesen).<br> This is a very popular tune in Finland (where it is an accordion standard),<br> imported to the United States in the Scandinavian communities of the northern<br> states. The waltz was picked up and popularized by American contra-dance musicians.<br> It is known in northern Wisconsin and Massachusetts.<br> It was printed in<br> Johnson's The Kitchen Musician's No. 7: Michigan Tunes (1986-87) and<br> Matthiesen's The Waltz Book (1995).<br> It was recorded by Viljo Vesterinen (1931) (78 RPM),<br> Yankee Ingenuity on Heatin' Up the Hall (1989) and<br> Boys of the Lough on Sweet Rural Shade (1988) (as "Forest Flower").<br>
