This "Reel in G", also known as simply "Quadrille" is one of a number of<br> dance tunes known in western New York and western Pennsylvania that are known to the<br> players only by a generic designation - reel, quadrille, jig, dance tune, etc..<br> Paul Van Arsdale learned this tune from his grandfather Jesse Martin. The same tune,<br> minus Van Arsdale's C part, was collected by Sam Bayard in south western<br> Pennsylvania where it was called "Quadrille". He gives no notes about it except<br> for the player and his location. It seems very familiar but it may be that<br> Van Arsdale's record is my only source.<br> I have included only the A and B parts from Van Arsdale which were played in<br> reverse order by Bayard’s informant.<br>
