"The Smuggler’s Reel" is an American reel in 2/4 time and A Major.<br> The parts are played AABB.<br> It is related to the Scottish<br> "The Irish Hautboy" and<br> the Irish<br> "Lisdoonvarna Reel",<br> "The Rose in the Garden”,<br> "The Primrose Girl",<br> and "Tadhg a Rúin".<br> It is an American title for a reel with an Irish provenance.<br> For some reason this tune is often listed as an alternate name for<br> "The Old Grey Cat"<br> although the tunes are very different.<br> It was printed in Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940) and<br> Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883).<br>
