"Yankee Hornpipe" is an American hornpipe in B Flat Major. The parts are played AABB.<br> Painter William Sidney Mount was aged 22 when Higgins published this composition in his<br> 1829 collection. Although nothing is known about M.(ichael?) Higgins, quite a bit is<br> known about Mount, who frequented the New York musical society in the company of his<br> uncle, flute player and composer Micah Hawkins.<br> This version is from the music manuscripts of Long Island painter and fiddler<br> William Sidney Mount (1807–1868), via Gilbert Ross [Phillips].<br> It was printed in M. Higgins' Original Dances, Waltes & Hornpipes for the Violin (1829),<br> Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes, vol. 2 (1995).<br> It was recorded by Gilbert Ross on The Cradle of Harmony: William Sidney Mount's<br> Violin and Fiddle Music (1976).<br>
